A comprehensive presentation on past, present and future states of blockchain technologies and what they mean for business and government. 
 This gentle introduction to Cryptocurrencies, Crypto-Assets, Smart Contracts and the New Decentralized Economy will be followed by more in depth discussion of topics based on the knowledge, experience and interest of the audience. 
Potential topics include:
  • Blockchain and governance - what do decentralized networks mean for government services, how will governments have to adapt and how will that affect our lives? What are the opportunities for local and regional governments fort adopting blockchain technology - the case for Alaska. 
  • Investment and finance on the blockchain - startups have raised around $1 Billion through "Initial Coin Offerings" since the start of 2017. How does this method of crowdfunding projects change the nature of Venture Capital and Private Equity funding?
  • Decentralized Application (dApps) and Smart Contracts - what are they, how do they work, how can you use them and why? How to interact with blockchains? Basics of using crypto-currency wallets, buying, using, trading and storing cryptocurrencies, assets and token
  • Blockchain and personal security - How to protect your wallets and private keys, which services to trust, how to detect scams, set and maintain secure passwords, store, backup and restore your blockchain identities. 
  • State of the Ecosystem - Overview of current startups, services and applications on the blockchain
